I can’t speak for Ken, but today is not my most productive morning. Over the weeks of the Miss Fedex Field competition, we became friends of the eventual winner, Dannia Hakki. She gracefully extended us the invite to her new PR firm, MoKi Media, launch party, including an open bar of Sapporo, Macallan 12-year scotch, and champagne. Yea…we got after that.
There were quite a few guests of interests, most notably the R&B singer, Ginuwine. I knew he was born and raised in the DC area, so I was looking forward to chat Redskins with him (and I’m never shy to interrupt a star to talk Redskins).
That’s where things took a friendly turn for the worse.
Ginuwine: “I’m a Cowboys fan.”
WHAT?!?! How?
Ginuwine: “Yea. Ever since I was kid…I just liked their colors and it stuck ever since.”
So does that mean your wrote the song “Pony” with Troy Aikman in mind?
Ginuwine: “Hell no!! (laughing)”
For those that don’t know the lyrics, they go:
If you’re horny lets do it
Ride it my pony
My saddle’s waiting
Come and jump on it
If you’re horny lets do it
Ride it my pony
My saddle’s waiting
Come and jump on it
Oh man…I loved asking that question and seeing his reaction. Ginuwine was a pleasure to talk to and hopefully we’ll talk with him again later before the Cowboys games.
Hello everyone, as you can see we have added a new theme to the site, Hope you all like it. I had to tweak it for hours before I got it to work correctly but I finally got it done, thank goodness because I was getting frustrated lol. But here it is a new look.

R&B artist Ginuwine is rocking in Salt Lake Saturday night raising money for victims in Haiti.
The concert was held at the Rail Event Center in Salt Lake.
Audience members not only enjoyed the music, but helped support relief to Haiti.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit Healing Hands for Haiti, a non-profit organization whose international headquarters are in Salt Lake.
We have added new photos of Ginuwine and Tonya at the Soul Train awards.
Check them out.
In recent years, ’90s R&B singer Ginuwine’s star had begun to dim. But then the Washington-based performer hooked up with a St. Louis record label and turned it all around.
His Notify Records debut, “A Man’s Thoughts,” distributed through Warner Bros. and recorded locally, brought him back to the scene — and to the Ambassador stage Thursday night.
The former heartthrob gave a slickly entertaining performance that showed he’s still got it. Ginuwine hasn’t always had the strongest instrument, but he has always tried hard, taken it seriously and made the most of it.
After a DJ medley of hits such as “Number One Fan” and “None of Your Business,” Ginuwine bounced onstage to the smooth “Same Ol’ G.” And he was that same ol’ G on hits such as “So Anxious,” “Hell Yeah” and “Stingy.”
A crew of male dancers ably helped fill out new hits “Last Chance” and “Trouble.”
Ginuwine wrapped with an impromptu tribute to Michael Jackson, one of his huge influences.
Rather than sing a Jackson song, Ginuwine merely walked back and forth and hyped up the crowd while the DJ played “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” and “The Way You Make Me Feel.”
But Ginuwine did pull out some great dance moves during “Billie Jean,” and the Jackson tribute bled into Ginuwine’s debut hit, “Pony.”
Opening the show was singer Tank, who joined Ginuwine late in his set for the “Please Don’t Go” remix recorded by Tank, Ginuwine and Tyrese.
Tank, an old-fashioned powerhouse of a singer, belted out songs such as “Maybe I Deserve,” “Heartbreaker,” “My Body” and the original version of “Please Don’t Go,” as well as songs he’d written for others, such as Marques Houston’s “Naked” and Pleasure P’s “Under.”
*Ginuwine returns with a more mature sound on his sixth album A Man’s Thoughts.
It would seem that he is still thinking about the ladies if the lyrics are anything to go by, although he states that he no longer sings about ‘the latest VIP club or expensive drink.’
Indeed he shouts out Barack!
“I’ve matured a lot since I was last on the scene. I want to take it back to the blueprint that Marvin Gaye and soul legends designed.’ Ginuwine says. “This is a new beginning for me.”
At 34, after a four-year hiatus, this father and husband to rapper Solé, who has seen personal tragedy such as bereavement, has become more responsible and the stance extends to his music. Not quite political, his daughters may have provided some inspiration for the lyrics in his interlude about just what a man’s thoughts are. If he can provide the answers, it will have a lot of girls hooked, but can he? Yes he can, not only his thoughts, but also those of guys who are equally struggling to be ‘a better person.’
Ginuwine has declared that he no longer does back flips on stage, he was quite the mover, demonstrating just how to ride his infamous Pony in his live shows. So has all the raunchiness disappeared?
This album is certainly laid back and ballad driven. This occasional actor has the part of male R&B crooner locked down. But don’t despair; there is a silver lining in that the dream team is back. The album sees Ginuwine reunited with Timbaland and Missy, whom he met on a Jodeci video set in 1996, on the funky Get Involved, which injects the right amount of up-tempo, but which Missy almost steals the shine on. Brandy is another notable appearance on Bridge for Love.
The Brian Michael Cox produced, and Johnta Austin penned, One Time For Love is a silky hit. And newcomer Oak’s beat on Orchestra is infectious. The catchy Lying To Me cleverly spins out the dramas of relationships. But there is no proof to fuel the rumours of infidelity!
PR aside, the laid back mood of the album definitely sets the tone for romance. Touch Me is a slow jam that sets the perfect pace for chillaxing. Trouble ft. Bun B (a double A side with Last Chance) is another standout track where Ginuwine sounds as youthful as any of his contemporaries.
Ginuwine was always more than (a very pretty) face. Not only can he move; but his vocals are smooth. His dulcet tones set slow jams alight. Memorable in the R&B fraternity for his appearance in Aaliyah’s One in a Million video, Ginuwine’s latest album proves that with an award-winning career thirteen years standing, he continues to stand out in the crowd.

He tells us that he is currently working on an Xmas album in STL and will go in the studio next month for the followup to “A Man’s Thoughts”. He also asked Tyrese to get on one of the albums and confirms that Tank is in legal battles and that’s why TGT is completely done right now. (If you don’t know, Tank is having issues with his label right now.)
Here’s a couple of quotes from the above summary:
Can’t wait to get to STL to wrap up this xmas album!!!

BEFORE the likes of Ne-Yo and Omarion graced the R’n’B world, Ginuwine was doing his thing. Granted, the sexy US singer perhaps hasn’t earned ‘veteran’ status just yet. But having over 10 years in the music business is pretty impressive. Having burst onto the scene in 1996 with the Timbaland-produced smash hit, Pony, Ginuwine has remained a stalwart in the R’n’B world ever since.
Now, he’s back with his new album, A Man’s Thoughts. And while he’s no longer ‘the bachelor’ (as was the name of his debut album), the 33-year-old, happily married star is more than content with being “a grown man” in the industry, as Davina Morris (an ever loyal fan) finds out.
Ginuwine, how are you?
I’m good. I’ve just been working out.
Do you work out every day?
I’m gonna start doing it every day. I just wanna get fit. I ain’t getting no younger so I need to try and stay in shape!
With that in mind, do you ever feel like you can’t compete with the younger singers in the business, musically or physically?
Nah, not at all. I’m still a dancer and I still create music that younger fans can enjoy. But I also create more mature music. I try not to categorize myself or limit myself. I just try and relate to everyone. I feel that I have my own thing to offer and I hope that younger artists feel they can look up to me, in the same way I looked up to Prince, Bobby Brown and other artists of that generation who were real show-stoppers.
After getting married [to rapstress Solé in 2003], did you fear you’d lose your appeal with the ladies who loved you as ‘the bachelor’?
No. At the end of the day, I can only be myself. Those bachelor days are over. I let the youngsters do all that. Soulja Boy, Bow Wow – they can do that. I’m a grown man. I don’t portray myself as a young boy.
Hence the album title, A Man’s Thoughts…
Exactly. This album is about me as a man; where I am and how I look at things now. When I first started, I was crazier and more carefree. I’ve since matured and I’m into what I’m doing with more focus.
How is married life treating you?
Yeah, it’s great.
Earlier this year, rumours began circulating that you’d become romantically involved with actress Lisa Raye, who starred in the video for your single, Last Chance. You denied the claims, but what did your wife make of it all?
She was bothered by the accusation that came out but she didn’t believe the accusation. She’s in the business herself so she pretty much knows what it’s all about. It was more hype than anything else.
Are you the jealous type?
Yeah, very. But I try and keep it in check. I have a lot of insecurities within myself so I’m very jealous of other guys.
Anything else you care to add?
Thank you to my fans for supporting me throughout the years!
